EDMONTON – A two-year-old boy was taken to hospital Friday afternoon, after being found alone inside a vehicle in south Edmonton.
Police and fire crews were called to a parking lot in the area of Calgary Trail and 34 Avenue around 4 p.m. Witnesses told police the child was alone in the car for 20 minutes.
When the two-year-old boy was taken out of the vehicle he was sweating heavily and appeared dehydrated, police say. He was taken to the Stollery Children’s Hospital, but officers say he will be okay.
Temperatures Friday afternoon hovered around the 25°C mark.
Police say the temperature inside the car was 47°C when the boy was removed from the vehicle.
The boy’s mother, who police say was inside the grocery store at the time, was arrested on scene. Charges are now pending against the woman.
